Dark walnut · #70503B · Depth and character
Why walnut feels special
Walnut is the darkest of the three Firnie floors. Its depth creates a strong contrast with lighter walls and furniture, which is why rooms with walnut often feel more finished and intentional, particularly in the evening when lamps are on.
How to style it
- Let walls do the lifting: warm white keeps the room open, while deep blue leans into the mood, as in Blue Hour.
- Soften the contrast with linen and other natural textiles.
- Use layered lighting: several low lamps rather than one overhead source.
What to watch for
Dark floors show dust, pet hair and footprints more readily, and in a small, dim room walnut can feel heavy. If space is limited, consider light ash instead, or keep walls and large furniture pale.
